Women in Philanthropy
| Women in the Tennessee Valley are changing the face of philanthropy to benefit the members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. The Women in Philanthropy Initiative “Purses with Purpose” is a program designed to nurture and cultivate the leadership skills of our female club members, as well as raise funds to support the programs we offer our female members. |

| The intent of this initiative is to expose our female club members to different leadership styles; introduce them to women who are established leaders in their professions; and allow the girls to develop their own leadership skills, attitudes, and values. This is also an opportunity to learn about women’s roles as philanthropists and how to enrich the lives of the Boys & Girls Clubs members. |

About Us
Our mission is to unleash potential in young girls by exposing them to opportunities, encouraging them to reach new heights, and providing them with training for success so that they can achieve personal success and go on to foster it in the generation of young girls to follow them.
Purses with Purpose is a Women’s Giving Circle coordinated in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. Members contribute $200 each to a pooled fund, invest the money, and participate in decisions about how to distribute these funds to programs that will be offered to the female members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.
The level of your involvement is entirely up to you. Many members will choose to support the endeavor by making a donation only. Others will serve on committees and take on leadership roles. The most important part of a giving circle is that it provides a way for donors to learn about philanthropy in an engaged yet non-threatening way.
Recognizing the value of our members’ time, our group will not hold a lot of meetings. We will host a luncheon in the spring, at which members will have the opportunity to participate in deciding how to distribute the funds. The group will come together again later in the year for a celebration in honor of the young girls’ accomplishments. Additionally, opportunities will be presented throughout the year for members to be involved and engaged in the lives of female club members.
Please consider joining us in this initiative to reach out to our area’s young girls. Together, we can accomplish much!
